Hong Kong Village Revival, Flexible Society Competition

Since the beginning of Hong Kong public housing program, common space was not the main focus. Housing units are packed together without enough common area for encouraging the building up a sense of community. Our proposal is inspired by traditional village settlement in South China, which is able to foster social bonding within society.

With “walled village”, our design encourages residents to go out, interact with other residents within the village and enjoy the opened greenery spaces. The village evolves with movable walls and flexible partitions as the social structure is changing.
